Student GMO page requirements

Students need to add one page to their website. It needs to be about the GMO lab that you did in class. It should include:

  1. The name of the fruit/vegetable you used
  2. A picture of your gel
  3. A list of what is in each lane of your gel
  4. The size of the band you get when the plant primers work- what is the size of the product you get from plant primers + plant DNA?
  5. The size of the band you get when the GMO primers work- what is the size of the product you get from GMO primers + plant DNA that is GMO?
  6. What are the sizes of all of the bands on your picture?
  7. Do you have a plant? What is your evidence?
  8. Is your plant GMO? What is your evidence?
  9. If your gel is inconclusive or you can't tell based on the data you have, tell why. Go beyond merely saying, "human error."
  10. If your photo did not work out, then use one that has the group results. You can use the controls on those gels to point out the size of the band you get from plant primers + plant DNA and GMO primers + plant GMO DNA
  11. The most important part: How did doing a lab to identify if a fruit or vegetable is GMO relate to making a website on a GMO crop and country?

How are you going to get a picture of your gel?

There are a couple ways:

Download the ppt and see if you can get the picture from it

Right click on the image below and save it. If you are on a Mac, it would be control-click to get a menu that lets you save the image as...

Click on your name. It will open up the pic on its own page. Then you can do a right-click or control-click to save the picture as....
